Patricia Lynn Yearwood was born in Monticello, Ga to Jack Yearwood, a nearby banker, and Gwen, a schoolteacher. Patricia listened to country songs as a child. She sang in musicals, expertise shows, and choir teams in elementary college. In higher college, her interests had been in turning into an accountant. She enrolled at the College of Georgia, but was sad with the enormous size of the college, and transferred to Belmont University in Nashville Tennessee.
